week 2: computer

WEEK 2: COMPUTER
Nowadays, everything occurs and exist lead by one device which always improving and enhancing day by day. The device which I am referring to is a computer. Today pretty much, we are learning about computer, it does seem pretty simple. But trust me, we have learned pretty much during this class was held. As we all know, a computer is a programmable machine that receives input, stores and manipulates data, and provides output in a useful format. Bla..bla..bla... such a mouthful definition. It is basically pretty much as the same as books. The only different is it manages everything you stored in it for you, and when I say everything, I really mean it!
The focus is, to use this devise in educational purposes. Of course we can do a lot of things by using this device for educational purposes, and we all know that. Well, we are wrong, this is when we have been introduced with Ai and Virtual Reality.

Ai or Artificial Intelligence
is referring to:
The branch of computer science concerned with making computers behave like humans. The term was coined in 1956 by John McCarthy at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Artificial intelligence includes
• games playing: programming computers to play games such as chess and checkers
• expert systems : programming computers to make decisions in real-life situations (for example, some expert systems help doctors diagnose diseases based on symptoms)
• natural language : programming computers to understand natural human languages
• neural networks : Systems that simulate intelligence by attempting to reproduce the types of physical connections that occur in animal brains
• robotics : programming computers to see and hear and react to other sensory stimuli
The idea of Ai in educational purposes is branching out expanding day by day, as we all can see today our interaction through technologies are supported and arranged by this technology, and perhaps, in a future, they might be able to create a robotic teacher to teach our kids from home, perhaps…

Virtual Reality
Is referring to:
An artificial environment created with computer hardware and software and presented to the user in such a way that it appears and feels like a real environment. To "enter" a virtual reality, a user dons special gloves, earphones, and goggles, all of which receive their input from the computer system. In this way, at least three of the five senses are controlled by the computer. In addition to feeding sensory input to the user, the devices also monitor the user's actions. The goggles, for example, track how the eyes move and respond accordingly by sending new video input.
To date, virtual reality systems require extremely expensive hardware and software and are confined mostly to research laboratories.
The term virtual reality is sometimes used more generally to refer to any virtual world represented in a computer, even if it's just a text-based or graphical representation.
This idea of technology is much beneficial in educational purpose. With this technology, there will be no more hustle for the teacher to prepare for class realia. Besides, there will be no more issues of how to teach something which is impossible to be seen with eyes.
